The Unwavering Heart

Week-long earth medicine mushroom retreat led by Sylvia Benito & Eli Rechtschaffen

July 6 - 13, 2024 at Blue Spirit Costa Rica

Join us for a week with the earth medicine mushroom!

Plant medicines have been with us since the beginning of our human journey, but today are taking an increasingly prominent role in the awakening of consciousness. This renaissance reflects our desire to accelerate our human potential in these turbulent times and personally contribute to a healthier and happier world.

The right use of these powerful medicines requires us to hold them in sacred ways that both nod to the lineages that have held them as well as integrate them with modern psychological modalities.

In this retreat, we invite you to experience this marriage of plant medicine and mindfulness by working with a team that has been weaving this vision together for many years. In this debut offering, our team will take the training we have received for nearly a decade with our teacher, Taita Juanito, in the yage tradition, offered with psilocybin in a frame of meditation and mindfulness.

Our teacher has himself seen that it is time to weave these paths together and it is our honor to bring this vision to a retreat setting. In this week, we will deepen into the stillness of the heart through a series of experiences.

You will experience two healings with sacred offerings of psilocybin, as well as other healing modalities including herbal steam baths, meditation, yoga, breath work, dance, and a sweat lodge. You can expect a week of rest and self-exploration that will help you refine your vision for your life purpose as well as support you in living at your fullest potential.

Our Team

  • Eli Rechtschaffen

    Medicine-man, Shaman and Guide

Eli was born in upstate New York and since a young age he has felt a strong connection with the spirits of nature. In his journey he found that the paths of meditation and shamanism have provided him the most supportive awakening tools.

Eli is a long-time practitioner of meditation where he has studied in many lineages and spent intensive time in retreats and in silence. He also has frequented the Amazon jungle and there he studied the medical plant medicines through the tutelage of the Ingano tribe. Eli is the founder of The Nature Within and leads medicine retreats in Costa Rica with the Taita Chindoy family. His life intention is to bring these sacred healing tools to all beings in order to support the collective awakening.

  • Sylvia Benito

    Medicine Woman & Psilocybin Therapist

Today calls for ‘embodied awakening.” We are no longer in the era when “enlightened” beings sit in caves, far away from society, abstaining from the pleasures of life. This is a time of duality and integration, when a mystic can also be a money manager, and when a spiritual aspirant can choose both a boardroom and a temple.

Sylvia Benito started her career as an aspiring healer, studying for a decade with shamanic and yogic masters. Driven by a desire to experience spiritual awakening, she explored everything form tantra, to long silent retreats, to plant medicine ceremonies – all purely in search of ultimate truths.

After a decade of searching, during a prolonged yogic journey to India, Sylvia discovered a deep union with awakened consciousness itself, and realized love as foundational. With this taste of enlightenment, she saw that the modern era needs to change the “enlightenment narrative. Upon her return from India, she decided to learn to manage investments as she became a Chartered Financial Analyst, with the hope of bringing together the world of consciousness and capital.

Where will our retreat take place?

In beautiful Costa Rica

Costa Rica is at the forefront of environmental stewardship in Central America. It is committed to a major initiative to decrease its ecological footprint and become a leader in the “green” movement, as the effects of global warming are becoming more pronounced and the environmental status around the world is worsening daily. The government has placed global warming at the top of its national agenda and has already implemented an extremely successful forestation plan. Costa Rica has initiated a program to become by 2021, the first carbon neutral developing country on Earth – and has already made significant progress in lowering its overall CO2 emissions.
